White Hiragata Bowl (8")
There's a reason this shape has lasted centuries. The hiragata was a wide, shallow tea bowl brought out in the warm summer months, when its open mouth let tea cool a little faster. It was made for slowing down. We kept the form and gave it a new, everyday life.
Today it's the bowl you reach for without thinking: pasta on a lazy Sunday, a bright grain bowl at lunch, cut fruit set out when friends drop by. Its low walls let food spread out and look generous, and the clean white glaze steps back so whatever you're serving takes centre stage.
Each bowl is handcrafted from high-fired terracotta clay, so no two are quite alike. Small shifts in glaze and texture show it was made with care, not stamped out.
Pairs well with: the Hiragata in Steel Blue, Pear Green or Marigold for a mixed table, or the Speckled White Long Oval Plate for sides.
